And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21, 20-27
These are the sequence of events that the Lord said would happen before his return.
When one studies these end time events before his return, you have to believe that many of the things, which took place in 70 AD, when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, and the Jews were scattered throughout the nations, have already taken place.
One of the key scriptures, which I believe is the key to his return, which is the main trigger to the final climactic ending of the age events before his return is.
And shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Luke 21, 25
If one believes that the return of the Jews back into their ancient land was the end of the times of the Gentiles, then what the Lord says will take place after the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled are.
There shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21, 25-26
So what the sequence of events taking place in the Lords address to his disciples, seems to say that what triggers the signs of the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars, and upon the earth the distress of nations, is the times of the Gentiles being fulfilled.
One thing that the Lord throws in at the end of his words are, for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
The Lord is saying that all of the things which he spoke in regards to the end are all attached to the shaking of the powers of heaven?
If one looks closely at what the Lord is saying, then it looks like all the natural shaking events in the physical world of creation, are in direct correlation to the shaking of the powers of heaven.
If the powers represent all creational events, then these powers of creation must be the powers who are the cradle of creation. The powers of the heavens must represent all things which make up this life? Which are the regulators of creation? Which this world still lives under.
I believe every physical pole of the natural creation, has an corresponding spiritual pole in the realm of the spiritual, which are the powers who hold it in a state of place? Who are the thrones and dominions of the natural world, who this present world now lives in and under as the Gods of this present age?
These powers are the supernatural orders, structures and systems of Gods creational creatures, who were created through him and for him? But now somehow through the fall of Adam have been in a state of rebellion against the God of heaven, and have become the gods of the nations, the rulers of this age.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.” Ephesians 6, 12
When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: ‘Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also. Hebrews 12, 26
For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake and make tremble the [starry] heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land. Haggai 2. 6
It looks like when the Lord begins to shake the powers in the heavens, then the results will be what we see in the physical world? Like the sun and stars, distress of nations.
When Isaiah 14:12 talks about a fallen star, it means Satan. Isaiah 34:4 and Revelation 6:13 speak about the host of heaven falling. The powers in the heavens are demonic forces that exist in the spirit world but have influence on Earth. Ephesians 6:12 mentions “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” “Powers” is from the Greek root word dunamis and can mean the power of an army. “Heavens” is from the Greek root word Ouranos which can mean the sky or the spiritual realm of angels and demons. Furthermore, “falling” is from the Greek root word pipto which can mean physically falling, falling prostrate in submission and fear, or being removed from power. Bible Commentary
After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.” Revelation 18, 1-3
And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’ Revelation 18, 4-10
